NEOPLAN as the premium brand of the MAN global corporation

Since 2001 NEOPLAN has been the premium coach brand of MAN Truck & Bus AG. We profit from the merger through entrepreneurial synergies with the MAN global corporation. The reliability and economy of the MAN engines and drive technology fuse perfectly with the innovative strength of the NEOPLAN brand.

The birth of the first NEOPLAN

In 1953 Gottlob Auwärter demonstrated innovative strength and entrepreneurial courage.

He constructed the first suspended omnibus body that excelled through its clear styling, pioneering comfort and low weight. The very first NEOPLAN was born.

The origin of the NEOPLAN brand name

Konrad Auwärter, the youngest son of the company founder, recalls the how the name came into being:

"Whilst the family council was enjoying its midmorning snack, we considered the name of our buses. By chance, our Greek representative entered and he spontaneously suggested the name NEOPLAN. It means in Greek: 'modern and new means of transportation for people'. It is clear that we had selected the right name. Because the name NEOPLAN has become the synonym for premium coaches throughout the world."
